About 3000 residents receive solar power from their own roof and at favourable conditions. This is made possible by 8000 solar panels that were mounted on the roofs of about 50 buildings between Erich-Kästner-Straße and Carola-Neher-Straße in 2012 - the equivalent of six football grounds. By using this solar plant on the roof about 1400 tons CO2 can be saved annually. The solar plants generate roughly 40 to 50 per cent of the required electricity; the rest is supplied by the cooperation partner LichtBlick at favourable conditions. Three million Euros were invested in this project.
